Stop Google Photos partner sharing after a relationship changes

Partner sharing can automatically expose selected Google Photos to another account. Stopping sharing ends that route going forward, but the other person may already have saved photos into their own library. A change in relationship or device access is a reason to review the setting promptly.

Before you start​

Use a private device and sign in to the correct Google Account. If changing sharing could create a personal-safety issue, plan support and timing first.

Do it step by step​

1. Open Google Photos settings, Sharing, then Partner sharing. Review the partner account and what photo range or people were shared.
2. Choose Stop sharing your photos or Remove Partner according to whether you intend to end your outgoing sharing, the relationship in both directions, or both.
3. Review other shared albums and link-sharing settings separately; Partner sharing does not manage every album link.
4. Check account security and signed-in devices if the partner also knew your password or used your phone. Change credentials and sessions through the normal account controls.
5. Reopen Partner sharing and confirm the intended state. Keep a note of any important shared photo that you need to preserve in your own library.

Check the result​

The partner should no longer have access through the discontinued Partner sharing route. Your own saved photos should remain visible in your library.

If something goes wrong​

Google states photos the partner already saved to their own account can remain there. Ending sharing cannot recall screenshots or external copies.
