Stop sharing your live location in Google Maps

Sharing a destination once is different from letting someone follow your moving location. Google Maps Location Sharing can expose a recent device location, battery level and arrival notifications even when Timeline is off. Review it from the account you actually use on the phone; another signed-in account can have a different list.

Turn off the share you no longer need​

1. Open Google Maps on the phone, tap your profile picture and Location sharing. Check every person shown and any active link-based shares. Do not confuse the people who share with you with the people who can see you.
2. Select a person who should no longer see you, then tap Stop. Repeat for each unwanted share. If you shared a trip's progress, inspect that separate active trip too; it normally stops when navigation ends.
3. Return to Location sharing and confirm the person is no longer listed as a recipient. On a computer, Google also lets you control sharing from its Location Sharing settings.
4. If you suspect someone had access to your account, review signed-in devices and change your password after ending the share. Turning off a share does not secure an account whose credentials someone else knows.

The limit​

Stopping access prevents future updates through that share; it cannot erase screenshots or locations the recipient already saved. Also check other apps or family-location services separately.
