The distinction
A
trusted device is a device an account uses as part of its sign-in or verification process. In an Apple Account, a trusted device may display verification codes. A
linked device is a secondary app session, such as a WhatsApp Web or Signal Desktop connection, that can continue using the service within its granted scope. Providers do not use these names identically, so always read the entry's details and action before removing it.
An example
Your personal laptop could be a trusted Apple device and, separately, a linked WhatsApp computer. Removing its Apple Account entry does not automatically log WhatsApp Web out; ending a WhatsApp linked session does not remove the laptop from your Apple device list. If the laptop is lost, review both accounts, then take the provider's lost-device actions. Apple's

What to do
Open the service yourself, identify each device, and remove unfamiliar access in the right place. Change credentials when you suspect account compromise. A list entry alone is not proof of who used the device or what they read.
