Use a Firefox Relay mask for a low-trust signup

An email mask is an alternate address that forwards messages to your real inbox. Firefox Relay can make disposable signup addresses useful for shops, newsletters and less critical services. The mask becomes part of that account's recovery path, so do not delete it casually.

Before you start​

Sign in to your own Mozilla account and confirm the destination inbox receives mail. Avoid masking identities when a bank, doctor or travel provider must verify you or send important attachments.

Do it step by step​

1. Open the official Relay dashboard or the Firefox Relay control in a form. Generate a new mask for one distinct service.
2. Label the mask with the service name so you can identify a later message or leak. Copy it into the signup form without changing the domain.
3. Complete the signup and verify that its confirmation mail arrives at your real inbox through Relay before discarding the original form.
4. Record the account in your password manager with its exact masked login address. Use a unique password and supported second factor.
5. If the service starts sending unwanted mail, pause forwarding for that mask after checking you no longer need it for sign-in or recovery. Replace the address at the service before deleting a mask.

Check the result​

A test message to the mask should arrive through the expected inbox, and the service should accept the masked address when you sign in again.

If something goes wrong​

Forwarding failures and mask limits can vary by plan. If an account requires a true legal identity or critical documents, use an appropriate direct contact address instead.

Know the limit​
