Phishing is an attempt to trick someone through a message that appears trustworthy. The attacker may want a password, payment details, an opened attachment or a visit to a fraudulent site. Email is common, but the same tactic can arrive by text, chat or social media.
Quick example
A text says a parcel cannot be delivered until you pay a small fee. Its link opens a page that looks like the courier's site and asks for card details. The message is trying to make you act before checking.
Why it matters
A familiar logo, sender name or urgent tone is easy to imitate. The same trick can steal a password or persuade you to open malware.
Do this next
Open the organization's official app or type its website yourself. Do not use the link in the suspicious message; report it, then delete it.
