Because for 4K content on their web app, Netflix requires different version of DRM from the one that is used for 720p/1080p. More specifically they require Microsoft's PlayReady DRM and Apple's FairPlay DRM which you can only find in Edge and Safari. This is result of partnership between Microsoft, Apple and Netflix to make 4K exclusively available on their respectable browser. This is complete nonsense. If it was about piracy, then they would use the same DRM for all qualities, not just 4K. It's limited on purpose so people would use Edge/Safari over any other browser. You can pirate the same on every browser, Edge doesn't offer any better protection against piracy.
