I agree, IMO there have been some bizarre AV's posted here on the forum that make me scratch my head as why to use them, let alone we then want @Shadowra to test them?
Indeed, the “unknown” is always attractive to explore, but the “unknown” is also “unknown” for a reason. If it was so good, we would all use it and know about it.

If I remember correctly, didn't it use the Avira SDK?
It did, but it performs very poorly, so poorly that I didn’t realise it is there! Not sure if it is due to lack of cloud access, or configuration (for example AHEaD may be configured to be very mild). Web blocking is also almost non-existent. You can do better by installing literally everything else.

Looks like they moved away from Avira, calling it "legacy engine/Avira". 🤔

They say “Next-Gen” engine and then further on in the article talk about definitions and vdf updates. The engine version 8.something looks like they are using a third-party engine (not sure whose, Bitdefender engine is at version 7.something so can’t be them). Sophos is at 3.8 as well. Newly developed engine can’t already be version 8.

Next-gen engine would require an update once in a while and the usage of machine learning, not “vdf files” and signatures. Very weird.

You are right. Whole thing doesn't make sense. They are saying "legacy engine/Avira" and still using Avira SDK even on non-legacy version as that v8.19.19.134 vdf is also from Avira.

Who knows, this AV could be right up there with Tachyon? :)

Using a bunch of fancy terms and Marvel-inspired names, for very much legacy and standard technology, that requires ~5 updates a day to stay ahead of malware. Huge red flag.
