I was about to enter the license key on my tablet PC then Kaspersky for Android told me his gmail address would be used. So if I understand correctly, the tablet wouldn't be enrolled in MY mykaspersky account but his.

How risky is this? Can he take control of my device? No banking etc done on it, just my gmail inbox opened and my streaming (netflix, HBO, etc) accounts.

Where did You get that license? It's license You was invited or shared???
I bought it on a site. It's a 3rd party site. I haven't yet used it because this is something I'm unsure about. Let's assume I activate it using the license key he gave me and my tablet (Kaspersky for Android) appears in his MyKaspersky account instead of mine. What can he do?

What do you mean with it's a 3rd party site? Their licenses that they sell are multi-device shared with different users???? o_O:sick:

Just curious can you tell wich site you bought from, just private message me or post here if you can ?

When i bought one i made sure it was 2 years and 3 devices, they provided me the license key wich i attached into my account i made on kasperskys website

If you bought license that happens to be multidevice and seller has sold it to multiple people it should not have full time ( 2 years as example) days left on the license

i would contact the seller and ask for refund

Lmao I did just that and he refused. It was 3 EUR tho.

Okay so no stealing stuff from my tablet? No stealing my credentials, reading my emails, etc? Thanks

you really cant get legit license with that price, you have to buy from reputable 3rd party vendor in future ( wich even refunds the key if it doesnt work)

and since kaspersky new product line ; premium , plus and standard the prices went pretty much up because of this and because kaspersky got banned in us aswell

I thought myself that they move completely to billing mode, and no longer sells the license keys, but it seems they still provide license keys and 3rd party sites will continue selling keys in future wich is good for me because i cant buy straight from kaspersky.

dont use that license, just dont mess with stuff like this, license might get blacklisted too

Say he locks my tablet remotely via his mykaspersky profile. Can't I factory reset the device in that case? That'd be ransomware basically. But what can you do in such a situation?

With VPNs, with the very cheap licenses bought from less reputable sources, you often get a shared account. The seller purchases a subscription and then shares the email address and password for the account with multiple buyers. Say for example, the VPN allows for up to ten users at time, they will sell the account details to ten people. The problem with this, aside from the questionable legality, is that the VPN provider may work out that the account details have been shared and then cancel the account. It's the same deal here and it's something to be aware of when purchasing cheap licenses.

I noticed this aswell. They sell usually shared licenses for multiple people, the ones that are cheap. I tried buying surfshark plus license from kinguin and it had unlimited devices ( 1 month license ), and i connected it to my surfshark account > smooth overall, but this was expensive license and legit one. But if one wants surfshark they want to buy straight from surfshark since the difference in price werent that big, surfshark seemed to be cheaper.

Also i noticed on g2a that people sold nordvpn for 40eur , 2 years of plus license wich has thread blocking etc. But then i saw reddit thread about licenses getting blacklisted, but they got refunded because kinguin/g2a will do refund in these cases

When you are using licenses from the price range of 3 Euro and someone, not you, has master control of the account, yes. They can lock your devices.

You should always buy licenses from trusted sellers that you can activate in your own account.

If you can't afford to pay for such licenses, then you look for other options that can either be purchased very cheap, or are available for free.

My whole family and friends, partners so on, 15 years already are living without Kaspersky IDS/Default Deny and their money is still in their bank accounts.

Cheap is sometimes expensive.

 I don't know what You pretend with the last words of Your post, but I consider it unfortunate, and quite dangerous, trying to mix stealing account money with Kaspersky and bla bla bla...

The post is very clear and denotes that it is not necessary to use dodgy licenses for products, when free options (like Bitdefender, Avast and so on) exist.

People who are using these "free versions" are ok from what it seems on MalwareTips.

Studynxx can do it too, instead of buying licenses which clearly are fake.

Kaspersky official prices more or less match the prices of third-party sellers.

Kaspersky Standard for 3 devices/1 year costs £14 which more or less matches prices by third-party sellers (which sell for around £15).

That’s less than 0.50 per month, per device.

Kaspersky Premium is just £3 more expensive.

It is best to purchase Kaspersky directly.
If they are refusing to provide the offer (for new customers only), then another account can be created.

They currently offer 50% of the price wich matchs 3rd party sites prices, the reason i myself bought from 3rd party site a year ago was because i cant buy straight from kaspersky because i dont have my bank card connected to online banking...i have to use paysafe or ask my sister to pay with her bank if its supported ( with kaspersky nope)

But anyone that is buying third party keys i would suggest to go with stackable ones, like mcafee, trend micro, norton as example. Its much easier to buy few licenses, stack them and enjoy them for years with cheap prices

but about this topic: dont ever buy anything thats seems to be too cheap to be true
i bought discord nitro for 1/3 of the actual price from 3rd party site and got discord account banned, they refunded the license price thought
After that i said '' lesson learned'' and bought straight from discord itself with paysafecard

So always buy from the company itself, if you cant choose trusted retailer, these 3rd party sites like kinguin, g2a are probably cheap but they arent very ethical, the discord ban reason was that the license was bought with stolen credit card even the seller was trusted and had like 5000+ sales done on kinguin

edit: retailer prices often are same or bit cheaper than bought from the antivirus vendors site itself, so rest are kinda 3rd party sites... you dont know are the license keys obtained shady way so i try to avoid them if its possible

No, he/they CAN'T. He can do full and quick device scan and disable components and that's all. They can't hack, infect or lock your device, steal passwords or anything malicious. Of course, the seller can remove the buyer's device from MyKaspersky at any time, but they won't do it.
How I know? I tested paid and free kaspersky for several days. The only useful feature missing from the free version of Kaspersky is intrusion prevention.
All other missing ''extras'' are just useless bloatware. If I had to choose between the paid and free version, I would always choose the free one.

If you contact Kaspersky customer support, they will probably stack the licenses too.

You search around on Google to establish the average prices. If the product is everywhere €15.00 more or less, then €3 cannot be a genuine license.
Such license is of breach of the vendor (in this case Kaspersky) terms and conditions. They can block the license at any time.

Some of them could potentially be registered partners of Kaspersky (or other companies), some vendors are more flexible with the pricing, as long as they get their percentage from the license. This is how these cheap licenses exist.

The licenses are genuine, the seller just ''shares'' them with the buyers.
