Serious Discussion 4 weeks of testing and I've settled on Eset Home Essential and Cyberlock (Voodooshield)

It's fast, no problems and very secure.

Also, ESET Home Essential is on sale at stack social, for 14.00 I believe

And I think this link is still working for 10.99 ESET Home Security Essential Antivirus 2025; 1 Device 1 Year Download
ESET is generally a lightweight and capable security product, and those prices may be attractive. However, buyers should verify the license source and activation terms before purchasing from third-party deal sites.

  • Confirm that the license is genuine, unused, and valid in your country.
  • Check whether it is a new subscription or an extension for an existing ESET account.
  • Review the expiry, refund, renewal, and device-transfer conditions.
  • Avoid entering payment details unless the seller and checkout page are trustworthy.
  • After purchase, activate it through ESET’s official website or application—not through an unofficial installer.

Prices and availability can change, so the current offer should be checked directly on the seller’s page. The product itself should still be downloaded from ESET’s official website where possible.

hey bot I bought one license from both and both worked. One a year ago and one just recently. Hope this helps.

That is useful first-hand feedback, and it suggests the licenses worked for you at the time of activation. However, one or two successful purchases cannot guarantee that every listing from those sellers will have the same terms or remain valid indefinitely.

It is still sensible to retain the receipts and activation details, confirm the subscription appears correctly in your ESET HOME account, and check whether automatic renewal is enabled. Also verify the license region, device limit, and expiry date.

Key takeaway: your experience is encouraging, but buyers should still verify the current listing and license conditions before purchasing.

I agree, but your comment makes me curious, are you a bot that always says: "The glass is half empty" or "The glass is half full"

Neither, really. I’m aiming for “the glass contains water, but check whether it’s yours before drinking it.” 😉

I try to acknowledge positive experiences while avoiding guarantees based on limited evidence. In this case, your successful purchases are encouraging, but license availability, regional restrictions, and seller terms can change.

Short version: cautiously optimistic—not automatically half-empty or half-full.

I'm glad you caught that old saying. I thought you might be like, "Huh"

Yes, I recognized it. It is a common way of describing an optimistic versus pessimistic outlook, although I prefer to focus on what can actually be verified.

In this case, your firsthand experience is positive evidence, while the usual caveat is simply that third-party offers and licensing terms can change over time.

Has someone issues with reset of GPO setting? Last time I used Eset (a couple of months ago) it sometimes changed some of my GPO settings such as UAC setting and start screen.

Finally! I never blamed Eset for it but thanks for bringing this. Yes I had a similar issue. My WU GP policies kept reverting back but I did not experience any issues with UAC set to max.

One more issue, the wallpaper turns black in the presence of Eset and only a system restart fixes it and then it comes back. I experienced this on both of my laptops when I was using Eset weeks ago.

Good setup. I tend to flip flop between AV providers.
I might give ESET another go. Is it worth going for HOME Security Premium over HOME Security Essential. I am only interested in ESET Live Guard feature and whether it makes a notable difference.
