Of course, you'll need to have a 8K display like a TV or a monitor. Fortunately, 8K TVs nowadays are getting common whereas 8K monitors are hardly to be seen except for an old DELL 8K model below

So to play 8K games, or watch 8K movies, the only way is to use a 8K TV.

Remember, TVs come with HDMI ports and displaying 8K@60Hz games/movies require the use of HDMI 2.1 ports/cables. DisplayPort (v1.4/2.0 can display 8K@60Hz) usually appears on monitor rather than on TV and you can also find them on docking station

Let's look at what devices are supporting 8K@60Hz for now

1) TVs e.g. Samsung Neo QLED 8K TV and others from LG, Sony etc
2) Handphone video recorded in H.265 HEVC format and playback on TV at 60Hz e.g. Samsung S21 Ultra using the Exynos chip
3) Custom-built PC using the latest Nvidia RTX3090/AMD LC RX 6900 XT graphics card
4) Gaming on laptop running at 60Hz. Here, you can use a gaming laptop or a non-gaming laptop. Currently, I don't think there's a gaming laptop which can output 8K@60Hz directly to the TV for it'll need the above-mentioned power-hungry graphics card to do it. So, to output to the 8K TV would require the use of an eGPU gaming box like the AUROS RTX 3090 Gaming Box (water-cooled).
5) Gaming Consoles (PS5/Xbox Series X) – Support is there but disabled

AMD vs NVIDIA 8K graphics card

8K Gaming using a non-gaming laptop. Here it uses the 13.3 in ASUS ZenBook Flip S UX371(non-gaming laptop), 11th Gen Laptop Evo with Xe graphics chip, OLED 4K UHD screen, 2xTB4 ports

Note that the guy uses a AUROS RTX 3080 gaming box here to achieve 8K gaming. Also, 10GB of VRAM memory is just insufficient, and he needs to disable some features on the card

According to some users there seem to have some issues with the AUROS RTX 3090 Gaming Box. Well.......that's the price to pay for early adoption

The AUROS RTX 3090 Gaming Box spec is as below

Just to add some info

Gaming laptops by Razer and Alienware do come with RTX 3080 graphics card and HDMI 2.1 port. It's just a matter of time the RTX 3090 graphics card will appear in a gaming laptop
