If you read my posts you know I have an AMD PC. You know I am not a beginner, but I'm not near as smart as many here. I am also 70.

I have enjoyed building, and installing, and playing with software since Win 95, actually Win 3 (I think).

You'll notice I like software that doesn't slow me down.

I have a clean install, and an image of that install, made by Macrium Reflect X.

I have lots of software, I have collected over the years.

I love Avast one and or Avast one with VoodooShield (Cyberlock) , I also like the following for speed: McAfee, Kaspersky (my fav), F-secure, and a couple others.

My experience with Comodo in the past was via interacting with Cruel Sister (I found her bio fascinating).

I used her recommendations concerning Comodo 4 or 5 times. Her settings no doubt are the gold standard for security via Comodo.

But I always ran into little burps, different types of inconveniences. Now I am not saying this is CS's fault. It's just the Comodo way at times.

But that all changed 7 days ago. I decided to go to my image, and then download the latest version of Comodo by searching Google "Free Comodo Antivirus". The first link was to Comodo, I clicked on the first tab. I believe this gives you the Pro version, but the about actually says Comodo Internet Security 2025 Pro.

Now I have to admit, none of this is my own doing. For after installing I turned to Ai, and took a screenshot of each and every page, under settings. I showed them one at a time to Ai, and asked for settings to provide great security, without becoming bothersome, and I didn't want to slow down my PC. Ai gave me advice on each and every screenshot of which I believe there were 30.

I then deleted those original screenshots after making all the changes according to Ai, and I made another screenshot of those settings, again equaling 30, to keep for future installs, along with importing the settings from Comodo to my D: and E: drives onboard and to F: which stays offline.

Now this time was spectacular. Everything is as fast as McAfee / K7 and I assume as secure as Bitdefender or Kaspersky. Now I can attest to the blazing fast speed, for Apps, and webpage loading, and surfing. What I have no way of knowing is how great is the security, for the only tests I can do are the normal Gibson, EICAR ECT.

Now for those interested I have 30 screenshots. I just don't know how to share them here. Last time I tried I made a huge mess, my post looked horrible. Images to big, to small, duplicates, and an admin had to fix. SO IF anyone has a dummy email account, I would gladly email the 30 screenshots to you and possibly you could apply them to this post. I mean for a visual, for those who might be interested in Ai's preferred settings for Comodo, to make it fast, secure, and nonobtrusive.

Hope someone finds this helpful.

Sharing Your Screenshots

I'm not able to receive emails or process images myself, so I can't personally host or insert your screenshots into your post. However, there are safe and simple ways to do this directly on MalwareTips without the formatting issues you ran into before.

  • Use the forum's built-in attachment feature (the paperclip icon in the reply editor) rather than pasting images inline. This avoids sizing inconsistencies.
  • If you want inline images, resize them first to a consistent width (900-1000px is usually safe) using any basic image editor or even Windows Photos "Resize" tool before uploading.
  • Alternatively, upload them to a reputable image host and use XenForo image tags with the direct image link, keeping all screenshots the same dimensions.
  • Group them in one message rather than spreading uploads across multiple edits, which tends to cause the duplication issue you mentioned.

If you're still unsure, a moderator or experienced member can usually walk you through the attachment process directly.

On the Security Verification Question

This is the part worth being cautious about. EICAR and Gibson's ShieldsUp are useful, but limited, tools:

  • EICAR only confirms that an antivirus engine's on-access scanner can detect a standardized test string. It says nothing about behavioral protection, exploit mitigation, or how the product handles real-world malware.
  • ShieldsUp only checks the visibility and response of your network ports from the internet. It does not test antivirus or HIPS effectiveness at all.

So while these tests passing is a good baseline sign nothing is obviously broken, they cannot confirm your Comodo configuration provides protection "as strong as Bitdefender or Kaspersky." That claim isn't something that can be verified through casual testing, and I would avoid treating speed and these basic tests as proof of equivalent security depth.

On AI-Tuned Comodo Settings

Comodo Internet Security is powerful specifically because of its layered components, HIPS, Containment, Firewall, and each interacts with the others in ways that aren't always obvious from a single settings screenshot. An AI reviewing screenshots one at a time, without full context of how those settings interact across the whole suite, can produce a configuration that looks clean and fast, but may have gaps that only show up under real attack scenarios (fileless malware, script-based attacks, memory injection, etc.).

This doesn't mean your setup is unsafe, only that "fast and passes EICAR" isn't the same as "verified strong against modern threats." If you want a second opinion, posting the actual settings values (not necessarily screenshots) for HIPS, Containment, and Firewall rulesets in the Comodo subforum here would let experienced members, who understand how Comodo's components interact, review the logic behind them.

Bottom Line

Your speed results sound genuinely good, and it's clear you put real effort into this setup. Just be cautious about equating "runs fast and passes EICAR" with "equivalent protection to Bitdefender or Kaspersky." That specific claim isn't something that can be confirmed without deeper analysis from members who know Comodo's HIPS and Containment behavior in depth.

I believe you. Comodo, especially when disabling AV and keeping CS's settings, can be a really light experience. Also, the auto-containment is a great feature!
as secure as Bitdefender or Kaspersky.
This I hardly think so, sorry for popping your bubble. Unless they've made awesome outstanding changes, their antivirus component lacks efficiency and overall intelligence lol. It also scores terribly in independant tests as well as general reviews. Once again, auto-containment is a great feature and it's very secure IMO. But, what is has in protection it also has in software bugs.

I used to like Comodo because of the aforementioned sandbox. I used to use Cruelsister's configuration which, if I recall correctly, disables HIPS and AV. This way you can reduce bugs too, but you lack heuristics and static protection. If it wasn't so buggy and potentially introduced so many vulnerabilities, I'd use it with a third-party antivirus.

Are you able to tell me, upon your tests or reviews, if a new version has been released that solves this issues?

You must have misread my post. I have not disabled anything. I also have no reason to mislead you. At 70, I am not in the habit of wasting my time playing any games. So on my end, my comments are tested and true. I can not speak to the security as I have no way to test. But the speed is impressive, and I recall using McAfee and K7, they were fast also. But Comodo is a bit faster, opening apps, and copying files, and web/internet use

I haven't misread it, sorry if I implied it, it wasn't my intention. When I talked about disabling components of the software I was talking about my own experience in the past with this software. I believe what you say about OS speed, I also experienced this when using Comodo (y)

Sorry. my reading comprehension must have skipped 3 beats
