This question also got answered by Andrey in the thread on the link I posted. There's no 100% security and 100% privacy, but... can you name a one case where this happened? ...that a government of a (real) democratic country forced a VPN company to track just one user and handed them user data...

Trust me... if we had that, no criminal would be free. Yet, you still have pedophiles torrenting child porn over VPNs. No, really. Connect to a popular VPN service and visit iknowwhatyoudownload.com; chances are child porn was torrented from an IP address you're connected to.

Valid points and I agree with you. But alas I have been around long enough to understand things get done in secret and never come out or are swept underneath the rug.

It's not a matter of 'if' it's happened but when and how. Besides they don't need to 'hack' or 'compromise' VPN servers, they hack the developers or tap the fiber cables.

The only reason I don't use AdGuard VPN is simply its not as fast as alternatives, I've waited many years for a fast connection since dial-up & i don't want that taken away, I live a none political life & IMO they are all as bad as each other countries that is...???

I don't trust any VPN regardless what they say. As the saying goes if more than one person knows your secrets then it's not longer secret. Anyone can be coerced to spill data or perform task X the question is the amount of pressure required to conduct such a spillage. I highly doubt that anyone at ADGUARD team or any other VPN hosting service went through a SERE training. If you never experienced high level interrogation techniques and coersion methods then feel lucky to live in ignorance.

That being said; I would never use VPN to conduct sensitive transactions unless that is my only option and the information that is required is highly time sensitive i.e. the only connection that I can get (no cell signal) is an open wifi network and I need to transfer X to Y before Z or K will happen then and only then I would use VPN to perform such an action.

Personally, I use VPN to shop for airline deals; on ocassion you can obtain a very good flight deal if you come from another country or not from your home network where you usually browse for deals. Sometimes browsing for flight deals in icognito mode is sufficent other times it requires a VPN. It's shody but if airlines are going to play games with prices and upcharge me because I came back to their site to purchase the ticket then I will use every method to obtain the original low price.
