Very interesting idea, I have never seen such a marketing tactic.
Would I give up my KIS , NIS or Avast IS subscription for a new and longer one for Outpost Security Suite PRO ?
No, at this point in time Outpost Security Suite PRO has a weak antivirus engine (VBA32) and it's far from being user friendly.

This is something very rare, thanks gery for the heads-up. I have been personally involved with giveaways and freebies for quite sometime but never seen this. Personally i wont exchange my Kaspersky/Bitdefender/Norton/Avast/AVG/Bullguard/Lavasoft/McAfee license for it. But still very good find.

Yes they use VirusBuster AV engine, unless they have recently changed which I doubt.
http://www.virusbuster.hu/en/company/partners/oem-partners
and they use their own in-house Anti-Spyware engine. Two engines altogether.

VirusBuster is a very good AV engine, Microsoft stated off using it in Forefront, OneCare, MSE & Windows Defender and added their own technology. VirusBuster is still used in all Microsoft security products including Malicious Software Removal Tool and Microsoft Security Scanner.
VirusBuster engine technology is also used in Digital Defender, Clearsight, Preventon, Avertive, OPSWAT, Proland, Zondex Guard and McAfee (uses only the signatures not the engine plus their own).

Sunbelt also started off using VirusBuster engine technology after they bought their share from Giant AntiSpyware then added their own as well. Only the older signatures from VirusBuster are used now Sunbelt (now GFI) uses mostly their own technology and their own engine.

Of coarse I have had bad experiences with Outpost, not the AV engine, the HIPS features.
So I wouldn't consider using it again.

Thanks.:D
