The Samsung v Apple lawsuit is getting juicier and juicier. Today in San Jose, CA, Apple made the move to add Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean and their Galaxy Tab 10.1 to the case. This comes in response to Samsung adding the iPhone 5 to the lawsuit last month. The interesting thing here is that we aren’t sure how Samsung’s skin, Touchwiz, factors into Jelly Bean, and why it was added to the case.
The particular case where Apple has added Android 4.1 OS and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 isn’t expected to take place until 2014. Apple also already has a preliminary ban in the US over Samsung’s Nexus (Galaxy Nexus), and this past August the Galaxy S3 was added to the long list of supposedly infringing devices.
Back in August, Judge Lucy Koh oversaw one of the biggest tech trials in recent memory. Where the jury found that Samsung infringed a number of Apple’s patents and Samsung would have to fork over $1.05 billion to Apple. Although there’s been plenty of controversy over this case, but that’s an argument for another day.
