Hi All:

Just a quick question:

What Android Mobile Security, or Antivirus do you use on your device, I'm trying to decide? I have a license key for Kaspersky, but most features are blocked i.e., privacy protection, call & text filter, this is because of Android 4.4.4 and above.

Tony :)

I have used both of the following free security programs both which work well
Comodo Mobile Security (blocks calls on Android 4.4.4,privacy protection)
Avast is also good

You will not find a mobile security that will block text messages on 4.4.4 and above and most call blocker apps will not block texts unless you make their text messenger your default text messaging app such as extreme call blocker for example.

So you might want to stick with Kaspersky. It should block calls and have the white/black list feature as Comodo has.

@Tony Cole

I tried out many security products on Android and I would suggest to use ESET or Avast.

ESET (paid version)
  • Clean user interface
  • Good battery usage
  • No slowdowns
  • Automatic updates (min. every 6 hours)
  • On-charger scan
  • Anti-Theft
  • Device Monitoring of important settings
  • Many other useful features
Avast (free version)
  • Automatic updates (every 4 hours)
  • A little bit aggressive on-access scan (possible to improve it with settings)
  • Very good Anti-Theft (IMO better than in ESET)
  • App locking (2 apps in free version)
  • A lot of other useful features and for free
Personally I don't like Kaspersky. ESET seems much better on Android and on PC too.

I hope it helps. :)

Regards,
Kardo

I would definitely recommend avast mobile security, the reasons are
1) It is free ( avast offers more features in their free version)
2) It is light
3) would never drain battery
4) Superior antitheft
5) Malicious Web protection works great with Google Chrome ( default browser)
6) Very clean and user friendly interface

I don't use any. What apps will you be installing? Are you planning to side load apps from outside Google Play Store?
