Angeluss' Config

Hello Angeluss and welcome to MT. might I give you a few suggestions?
first of all , swithch to a different program for realtime protection : adware is far from good!
if you want a good free program , get 360 secuity essentials or 360 total security ( has some extra tunep features ) or avira free. you can ad a free firewall ( although some members say win 7 / 8 firewall is more than enough ) , for an extra layer of security ; comodo has an excellent firewall , but you will need advanced knowledge to set it up correctly , otherwise you can go with zonealam free or windows firewall control ( boost windows firewall with stricter rules ). for chrome get the following extensions : https everywhere , lastpass , ditch adblock and replace with ublock or adguard free. also make sure to have a backup program : aomei backuper , easeus todo backup or acronis true image wd edition , are excellent free opions. for system hardening you can ad malwarebytes anti eploit free.

Looks like you pretty much got it covered here. :D @Angeluss if you follow all this you should be good to go. :)

Hello Angeluss,

It depends primarily upon your surfing and download\install habits.

If you do any significant amount of financial transactions online, then I would add at least a free antivirus. If you are "click-happy" then I would suggest a free internet suite that includes a firewall.

Well regarded ones include:

Avira Free (if all you want is an advanced scanner with good signatures)
Avast! Free
AVG Free

These are relatively easy to learn how to use if you are used to only using a basic scannr. I am picking-up that you know your way around a PC a bit so they will be a good introduction to security software.

If you want an active firewall, then:

Comodo Internet Security - free - includes firewall - There are good guides here on the MT Comodo sub-forum to properly configure settings so as not to get jammed-up using it.

You will receive many additional recommendations here - all of them good.

Your best option is try out various recommendations on your specific system to determine which ones work best for you.

Many thanks for the config share.

Since Ad-aware is a full blown Antivirus it should protect as well but for alternative realtime protection go as per mentioned from suggestions.

Another concern is backup and recovery as long you have external HDD and use built in backup from Windows or third party like Macrium Reflect for system image.

Can you confirm you are using Ad-Aware Free Antivirus? (Which requires product registration)

If you are using Ad-Aware SE or older products, then you are not protected from the latest threats. Some recommended Free Antivirus software:

If you want to change your AV then i agree with hjlbx and Huracan and you should try AVG free, it has good signatures and it's pretty much an install and forget AV.
Thanks for sharing your config.
