I'm not really rely on using AV from Android due to its battery consumption and performance but if I will choose then go for Lookout since its design for Android and long term known by users.

Don't worry about will it compete or not. Those paid ones may have some extra functionality, like backups, etc.

The detection rate of AVG Free, for example is the same as the pro version of AVG mobile security.

which is betr : avg pro or lookout antivirus free ?

I'm using Avast Antivirus, it's light and it has some great features that usually only paid products have! ..... http://www.avast.com/free-mobile-security

I have only tried Lookout, and I have uninstalled it because I felt that it was using too much battery time. I did not try AVG Antivirus. :D

TrustGo has all the bells and whistles the paid suites have plus it has a 100% detection rate, 100% performance rating from AV-Test.org., no noticeable battery hit, updates regularly, has a memory cleaner to stop apps from using memory when they are not in use.
Zoner is in the same league, just doesn't have a web filter.

I've tried a shot for that AV and it bundles Secure web browsing. However it lacks a bit from Anti-theft which likely partial.

2 Android devices use no 3rd party Android Antivirus, due to low built-in memory.

I am not using any AV on my Android smartphone. It is waste of resources if you use your common sense ;)

I'm not using it for the antivirus engine. I'm using Avast Antivirus because I really want to have an Anti-Theft component installed on my phone.
Avast Anti-Theft has the most built-in features, and it's free. Got my phone lost a few months back, and at that point, I really wished I had an Anti-Theft system installed...

Also to be noted that I own a Nexus 4 with 2GB RAM and a powerful Quad Core, so I have no good reason not to install an antivirus.

I do also own a powerful smartphone: SGS III but still I can find any reason to waste the resources :p
But if you are looking for a powerful anti-theft solution then try Cerberus:
It isn't free but it's really cheap: €2,99 for a lifetime licence ;)
