Any reason why Libre Office is better.
It is a long story but the original OpenOffice.org was bought by Oracle, many of the best developers left the project and formed LibreOffice from the open-source code because they did not agree with some of Oracle's standards. Then Oracle decided it was best to donate OpenOffice for a tax write off since most of the developers left and they could no longer keep the product going. So they donated OpenOffice to Apache.

Now some of the same developers work on both projects (LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice) but LibreOffice has did more development in the past few years which makes it better.

Enjoy!! :D

@Littlebits Is Libre Office is also a vulnerable software like Microsoft office.
Well all office software has vulnerabilities but LibreOffice is really good at patching known vulnerabilities faster than most others.
Check the list here- http://www.libreoffice.org/about-us/security/advisories/

Microsoft Office will be targeted by more exploits since it is the most popular office software just like Windows and Android are more targeted than Linux and Macs. Sometimes using software that isn't so popular is more secure.

Enjoy!! :D

If you need seamless compatibility with Microsoft Office formats, you should choose SoftMaker FreeOffice, all others that I've tested(including AOO, LO, Kingsoft Office) destroy formatting. FreeOffice has unrivaled import and export filters for Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Other merits are its low memory consumption, high speed and reliability, and a broad scope of features. If you don't know it yet, you should try it out, it's available free of charge for Windows and Linux: freeoffice
