App Review AV test #3 - Malwarebytes is very dissapointing

It is advised to take all reviews with a grain of salt. In extreme cases some reviews use dramatization for entertainment purposes.

Chapters: 0:00 - 02:00 Intro 02:01 - 03:00 Scanning the folder 03:01 - 12:25 Running the malware 12:26 - 16:46 Autoruns 16:47 - 17:40 FRST scan 17:41 - 20:54 Running AV scanners 20:55 - 21:46

Final verdict Verdict: Malwarebytes has been hyped too much for being the best AV software for absolutely no reason. Their engine lacks basic remediation for behaviorally detected malware (as we saw the repetitive injector popups the whole video) and static detection for script malware - .CLASS, JS, PS1, PY, HTML, HTA, VBS, VBE, WSF, BAT, CMD, PDF, PHP. It also does not statically detect DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSx, PPT and more document-format files. I think that the counter of how many malware were missed is pointless in this case. We had several RAT's, infostealers and other downloaders that were able to set persistency, infosteal and provide remote access without being blocked. I wouldn't recommend this software at all. Their AdwCleaner and MBAM Browser Guard extension, though, are pretty decent and actually great products. This video is not sponsored.

One of the commentors added they for some reason the web protection was not turning on. Not making excuses for how it performed but it's possible the install was corrupted and the product was not functioning correctly ill wait till a member of this form tests it. Also the reviewer is not really known iv never heard of his/her tests. Also last time shawdora tested it. It performed well.
