Your Windows system was compromised with those changes, supposedly "fixes" or "improvements" performed by softwares from Uniblue Systems.
User should be very careful with registry cleaners...Yes,it can damage your system so a backup is always need it.I'm using CCleaner as my registry cleaner and I don't have any problem. :) I have used tons of registry cleaners and never had a problem so -1 Uniblue.
There are others bad reviews for Uniblue , I've found this article "Uniblue Offering Rogue Software?" ,that you guys can read. It's from 01/13/2010 but nothing has changed since then.

This is ruining Avira, why would they even partner with Uniblue in the first place? I'm done using Avira products.

saad about this..they started with updating problems in the free version..now they stop the uniblue nag..
tomorrow who knows

Well in the free version sometimes you can get a crap connection to the update server, and you get the nag screen. I just don't understand why they chose to partner with Uniblue. I remember Avast partnered with Google, and you were givin the option to install Google Chrome. At least Avast partnered with a company that doesn't offer junk-ware. Partnering with Uniblue is really bad for Avira's reputation, and bad marketing skills if you ask me.

Probably they removed on their database on detection Uniblue, is anyone will interested in Uniblue since its a controversial product? No. Its better if they stay longer partnered with Tune up at least its well known company.

Uniblue most likely paid good money for this advertising campaign so this could be one of the reasons why Avira choose them because I'm sure that TuneUp or Auslogics would gladly team up with a vendor who has +1.000.000 users for the free version.

lol that will cost them money for sure as their costumers (or at list the conscious part ) will be able to think their relation with Avira and mosxt probably will move to another product . And will this move work out well for them? time will tell. I for sure think like many i have seen and heard on other forums IT IS A VERY BAD AND SAD MOVE ....for now thumbs down to Avira for their poor show

Avira has a large community and I'm sure that not everyone is a security fanatic so their will be a few that after seeing the Uniblue advertise will be tempted to buy this crappy product.

That's actually a good point Linuxfever. A lot of people see programs that say they make your PC faster and it cleans out your registry and/or removes malware. So people get their credit cards ready and start buying. I hope Avira comes to their senses and realizes how much of a mistake they made. They are going to anger a lot of people, and unfortunately lose money. Maybe that's what needs to happen.

Maybe Avira listened to its users, on several other forums and websites Avira users recommended Avira to drop Uniblue's rogueware and add a trusted partner like TuneUp Utilities or Auslogics.

So is Uniblue dropped as a partner now?

Thanks.:D

Well that's a good change. I'd use/suggest TuneUp anyday over Uniblue. Good on Avira.

Looks like an old promo, today's TuneUp Newsletter is titled "Avira AntiVir for free + TuneUp Utilities 2011" - you get Avira Premium for free and TuneUp at upgrade price, I think, for a total saving of 60%
Note: Special offer until 31/08/2011.

This may not be the expected partnership after all :(
