New Update Avira Free Security Updates Thread

Its feeling not heavy at all, lighter than BD free and as for popups had 1 in 8 days , browsing also fast . . . so far seems pretty nice :)
Compare that to the scare ware tactics of AVG/Avast. I was using Avira before installing SEP and was very happy with it. No muss no fuss and pretty much set and forget.

Regards Eck :)

AVG ultimate anyway has none of these scare tactics i'v been using them for a year. AVG has removed all of that but avast and norton are still horrible.

That`s because you purchased the product but I`m sure they`re still all there in the free version hence the switch to Avira Free as a go to for family & friends.

Though if I was to purchase an AV it would probably be AVG Ultimate.

I'm glad someone bumped this thread, after seeing this:
Moreover, now Avira has adopted Avast's unique method of detecting viruses. Script:SNH-gen ( avira is named TR/SNH )

Isn't this exactly the SNH technology for Avast's script-killing threat? It's just unified under the Avira naming convention. It seems it's not simply about transferring the algo engine and VPS signature database, but truly a deep integration.

In simple terms, Gen has now provided the technology to Avira.
