Let me guess, this is again on top of 15 years old foundations and as soon as you start opening submenus, you'll be seeing Windows XP era designed windows and dialogs. Uninstaller still consists of 55 separate installers that you have to remove one by one. And of course there will still be Luke Filewalker.

Did I get anything wrong?

To be fair, FREE version seems to have new interface too and I'll give it a try. Lets see if they removed all the garbage terrible design they had for years.

Ok, so they actually entirely redesigned the interface. Except settings and Luke Filewalker is still there in all its WindowsXP-esque glory. Also all the found "problems" that can't be permanently ignored afterwards are annoying. But it's a step in the right direction. Now stop screwing around AVIRA and transition settings and scanner to the same interface framework. It's been the same for at least 10 years and it looks horrible.

Well strictly from an aesthetic point of view: there are five blocks in each sub-menu, leaving an open space for one more block. This would kind of bug me every time I have to look at it.

It's like your Start Menu in Windows, I simply have to fill the empty spaces with something, or re-configure the sizes, and/or re-size the general area.

It just looks unfinished to me. But the Dark Mode is not bad overall.

You nailed it, even when i installed it on my real windows 10, after few clicks it opens old white GUI top of the new dark one. that is just lazy lazy developing. that is my reason to stay away from avira now. maybe later!

When I tested Avira here I was unable to connect to the Internet, even after restarting Windows.

I uninstalling and Internet worked again.

Do you have 32GB of RAM and are you worried about 450MB? I don't even want to imagine it so if you had an 8GB comb, would you call the police? RAM is to be used, not saved. ;)

I know, which is why I wrote "I have 32GB of RAM, but holy crap, AVIRA Updater process is...". I may have 32GB, but I doubt it's miraculously conservative when system has way less...

But it shows whether the product is well optimised or not, right?
In most cases it is a good sign that the program has a lot of RAM, it will have a faster response and will use less processor, unlike some AVs that use little RAM and a lot of processing power, giving the user the illusion that the program it is light just because it uses little memory.
