Wonder if they will implement from their current products but on the meantime likely an on demand scanner for it.

This was already posted everywhere in various forums.
Itself in the known computer magazine in Germany chip.de

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=328505

I posted mine from an email update I received, not Wilders.

I know about chip.de, but I was saying I was unsure if I was allowed to public the changelog publicly.

Avira builds up a data bank
Only Cloud scanners protect no PC, however, they are a useful supplement to signatures and Heuristiken. However, Avira is absent up to now the suitable data bank in addition to submit files to an on-line comparison. With Avira Protection Cloud this data bank should be built up. In a short practise test the software leaves a mixed impression: She does not need many resources and works fast, however, she offers no settlement function. If a virus is discovered, one gets indicated which file it concerns. Is extinguished or, however, is not sent in quarantine them. Also badly: If the software can start nothing with a file, it is checked without inquiry to Avira highly loaded and there for viruses. On a test PC 78 files were concerned by it. Users have to intervene here no possibility and to prevent the Upload. Whether it creates Protection Cloud as an independent product on the market or as a module in existing Avira products is not known.

Before you all start asking for "a test against malware", "does it have malware removal capabilities", I strongly suggest you read their blog post regarding APC:
http://techblog.avira.com/2012/07/19/the-avira-protection-cloud/en/

Outsmarting the malware of the future requires building a huge community-powered knowledge base containing malware data and clean applications.

So that's where Avira Protection Cloud enters.

Although you may already be aware of this, I'll post it anyway from the Avira Beta Center:

Quick scan does not start, very long "Preparing to scan..." time

If the TechPreview client scan does not start scanning files within 30-60 seconds and seems to be "stuck" with the GUI saying "Preparing to scan...", the reason can be an file guard (on-access file scanning) of some installed anti-malware product. The delay is caused by the high amount of file operations that the TechPreview client is doing to prepare the quick scan file list, enumerating critical locations of the system. These file operations are intercepted by the file guards which increases the overhead alot.

A possible solution is to temporarily disable any file guard/on-access file scanning during the scan of the TechPreview client.

Please remember to reenable the file guard after the scan is finished!

FYI, the standalone Avira Protection Cloud client has ended.

The Protection Cloud Technical Preview has ended. We would like to thank you for your participation. Through your valuable feedback, we were able to improve our Avira Protection Cloud technology. We would like to point you to the beta of our new Version 2013 which has Avira Protection Cloud technology built in.
Thanks, the Avira Protection Cloud team.

Avira Protection Cloud (Tech Preview) ended back in August 2012.

It was integrated into AVIRA software, except the Free Antivirus. If you use the paid version, Protection Cloud will periodically scan your computer.
