So if you guys know about my explorer.exe error few days ago, I got sick and I finally decided to format my PC, I was about to backup my files but it rebooted itself and it was going on rebooting on its own. When the bootloader comes it restarts and repeats this process.

I booted to my Windows 7 DVD and clicked Repair, I used Command Prompt and typed: bootrec /fixmbr. I got a message saying "Operation was completed successfully". I rebooted to try my luck. But it had unfortunate results.

When I rebooted I don't know what happened, I got a clean formatted system. I don't know what the hell happened, but I lost all my files, data, projects etc. All work was in progress. I really got angry and from yesterday 1AM-8AM I was fixing this issue trying to get best recovery softwares to recover my files but I didn't got any files.

Did any MalwareTips members had this issue when they accidently lost a file after format and wanted to recover? Can anyone recommend me a best recovery ASAP?

If you think I am foolish that why do I store in my C: drive. My works were all in progress and I save them in desktop. When my work is finally finished I save a backup in my HDD but I didn't knew it was gonna end up like this.

Thank You.

For harddisk recovery it's Ontrack Datarecovery, Filerepair is to fix damaged files, and Professional is a combination of these packages combined with Emailrepair.

If you are looking for free data recovery and troubleshooting tools, you might download these free bootable cdrom images :

Emergency Boot CD [EBCD]

Ultimate Boot CD [UBCD]

More bootable cdroms (for troubleshooting and other purposes) can be found at the LiveCD website :

I have recovered lots of files with Recuva from Piriform http://www.piriform.com/recuva. Also make sure when you recover files that recover them to a different hard drive, other wise you will be saving data over other files you might wish to recover next. Then they will be gone for good.

Find and download 'EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Professional'. My 500GB HDD crashed few months ago and i lost whole 460GB. But this software helped me recover most of it.
