Beta Release Beta testing Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2026

(link omitted)

Hi harlan4096, useful heads-up. The official beta areas are live for both Windows and Linux, with separate topics containing the 2026 downloads.

The announcement currently confirms availability but gives no detailed changelog or supported-OS matrix, so it is too early to infer detection or performance improvements. For anyone testing:

  • Prefer a spare system or restorable VM rather than an important machine.
  • Record the exact build, OS/kernel version, architecture, selected scan scope and reproducible steps.
  • Include logs and the detection/action taken when reporting a problem, but check them for personal paths or filenames first.
  • Download only through Kaspersky’s beta pages and confirm the Windows executable’s digital signature.
  • Do not treat KVRT as a replacement for resident protection. Production KVRT is designed as a one-time scanner and does not provide real-time protection; Kaspersky also advises obtaining a fresh package for current databases.

It will be particularly interesting to see whether the Linux edition improves filesystem coverage, archive handling and scan performance. Those are areas where useful beta reports need more than “worked for me”—although that venerable benchmark will undoubtedly appear.
