There’s no such thing as a stupid question in MT—everyone’s here to help, and science and IT are so complex that no one can know everything about every aspect. Write speeds are usually minimal, but Bitdefender has been known to cause issues due to its large updates and SSD usage; others are generally minimal. To go deeper, many antivirus programs like G Data use the Bitdefender engine, and most offer good offline protection because the entire database is stored locally but they somehow act like bitdefender . The only AV that delivers strong offline protection without putting heavy strain on the PC or SSD is ESET—their DNA technology seems genuinely effective and not just marketing, as proven in real-world tests.

Now don't take this as being directed at you, it's just your comment struck me funny.

Imagine we are talking about cars, and I say: "Man my car is so fast, it weighs 7800 pounds and with my 5 liter, twin turbo it's crazy"..."But sometime I imagine how fast it would be if my car only weighed 4500 pounds"...

BD I love it, but it slows my pc way down, opening apps, surfing etc..

Now my PC may not be as nice, new, and as fast as yours, but it's not a Junker. Here are my specs, and I know these are old parts, still it's not crap:

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D 8-Core Processor 3.20
RAM 64.0 GB
TUF Gaming X570 Plus WiFi
AMD Raseon RX 7900XT

In general, I'm seeing that on the forum, a lot less, at least compared to 6 months ago? and beyond of issues posted. It seems to be more stable. But, I'm only using AV Plus, personally on a desktop PC, no issues.

I installed the BIS on my sister's laptop 7 months ago and I keep monitoring the notifications through the Central app. I could only see blocked malicious websites. No FPs and no issues in any of the modules.

They must have improved performance or maybe it just settled on her system?

AV plus is great if you do not need the firewall, but I managed to get BIS for a very cheap price (6$/device).

Yep, and that's the thing, you can usually get BD for a great price, especially disabling auto renewal as they will, should offer you a reduced price about 4 weeks before it expires to, "please, renew you BD app subscription" :)

As with my laptops and F-Secure, I use WFC on that desktop PC with BD AV+, so no firewall worries there. Besides, I find WFC to be more useful, with better information, and can be seen in full screen mode, which BD has pretty much "rejected" from ever happening with their app. But, if it were for my sister, it would be Total as well, as it works inside of BD for protection sake and ease of use. My sister would be at a total loss with WFC, it would never happen ;) :)

That's nice and I like that you're still with F-secure despite the recent changes.

Regarding my sister, I had to choose sth fully automatic as she'd be lost too and BD ticked all the boxes. The second option would be A vast/AVG with Hardened Mode enabled, but she never like either for some reason.
