I ended up somehow with Bitdefender trial being installed on my MacBook. I never used it and when I did my weekly scan Malwarebytes detected and removed it but every morning I have a pop up saying "Your System may be at risk! Please scan your system and protect your Mac from all the threats." It gives me two selections CLOSE or IMMEDIATELY SCAN and I have tried both with no response (thinking if I can bring up the program I can eradicate the pop up), have emailed BitDefender to no avail and looking into library or simply trying to spotlight anything which may be hidden brings up nothing. No extensions installed either but I wonder if someone has a trick to reveal and delete this annoying pop up?

Bitdefender for macOS is not free, and therefore requires paid-for license after the trial period expires.

You can safely uninstall Bitdefender Antivirus for macOS:

How to uninstall the New Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac

Considering how you had no clue as to how Bitdefender came to be on your Mac, it's not wise to use an Admin account for daily activities. It may be possible -- I don't have my Mac on hand -- to switch your existing macOS user account from Admin to Standard, and then create a new user account as Admin with password.

A Standard account would eradicate most problems with random apps appearing on your device. Only enter the Admin credentials when installing an intended app or during an update.

As is the case for Windows users, but most are click-happy to risk it.

Thank you kindly. There is no evidence that the program itself is on my Mac anymore, and I remember Malwarebytes I.D-ing it and deleting--only the Pop up which arrives every morning (but does nothing) is left. I was hoping there was a location where such things are stored. Since it doesn't show up anywhere as a program ( I did try to eradicate a couple of weeks ago using the same steps listed in the link you provided) it cannot be uninstalled, just the shell of the notification remains.
