Jan 10, 2023 - Blog update: Brave Search now features its AI-powered CodeLLM for programming-related queries | Brave
Today, Brave Search added its newly built CodeLLM to its search engine. CodeLLM is aimed at queries that involve programming, and combines the depth and quality of search results with the summarization and explainability power of large language models (LLMs). CodeLLM offers programmers an option to get AI code snippets grounded in search results, with step-by-step explanations and citations of the sources for reference and validation. CodeLLM is free and is integrated in Brave Search so users do not have to switch apps or compromise on privacy.

November 21, 2024 — Today, we’re excited to announce the latest addition to Brave Search: chat mode for Answer with AI. This new feature offers the option to ask follow-up questions from the basis of an initial query to Brave Search. It’s available today for all Brave Search users around the world.

A Brave search "Answer with AI" response:
Brave Search uses its own independent search index and AI models, including a combination of open-source models like Llama and Qwen, to power its AI features such as "Answer with AI," regardless of whether it is used in the Brave browser or another browser. The AI models are hosted in-house by Brave to ensure privacy and are not dependent on the browser used. When Brave Search is set as the default search engine in another browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox), the same underlying AI-powered capabilities—including real-time web search integration and privacy-preserving responses—remain active.
In case you ever wondered.
