Perfect time for a friend to get a new gaming pc as I'm getting mine, he needs opinions on the build he has set up. He managed to get the R9 280x for £104 new off eBay. He plans on overclocking the CPU.

You can't overclock with that MB. You need atleast ASUS M5A97 R2.0 which is the bare minimum to get a mild overclock without stressing the MB. If you want a good overclock then you need a 990x/fx series MB.

Also that RAM, not sure if its good enough for OC. Go with Corsair or G.Skill.

No idea why you guys are going with XFX PSU's. This is a better PSU at that same price range, Seasonic S12II 620 Bronze.

You can't overclock with that MB. You need atleast ASUS M5A97 R2.0 which is the bare minimum to get a mild overclock without stressing the MB. If you want a good overclock then you need a 990x/fx series MB.

I went with XFX for mine and his build because you or someone posted a guy who tested them out and said they were good at tier 2
