Question Can DNS Services block more than just malicious/phishing sites in web browsing?

Please provide comments and solutions that are helpful to the author of this topic.

For example, can Quad9 block applications from connecting to command-and-control servers or botnets, other than websites.

DNS sure can, some more effective than others. Malware can not use static IPs, they get blocked within 24-48 hours, so they rely on DNS as well. Cloudflare is more effective than Quad9.

Thats a bold statement... I notice you show nothing to back it up.
Some supporting evidence/data would be helpful.
