Hello,

First let me say "thank you" for having a resource available to get help with my problem. I have read numerous threads on the web but I haven't seen this issue addressed. I have been working through these issues all day now and am totally frustrated as I seem to have taken baby steps to get the problems resolved only to feel like I haven't accomplished much. And, it seems that every step I take in the process takes a ridiculous amount of time to complete.

If you can tell me where to find the AdwCleaner scan log, I will attach it or if I need to run again I can.

As I mentioned earlier, I've been at this since 8 am, so I'm ready to take a break because frustration has set in.

I appreciate any assistance you can provide...

Hi,

Download attached fixlist.txt on the same location as FRST (otherwise the fix won't work)
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to the operating system

Open FRST, and click Fix. Attach me that report after it is finished.

***** NEXT *****

Re-run FRST again, check Addition.txt, press scan and attach both fresh reports.

I have another question about a different computer that I have and am not sure if the problems are related or not.

Because I had the issues with viruses and redirecting on computer #1 (problems outlined in original post), I decided to run malwarebytes on computer #2. Issues were discovered and removed. Hours later, when I came back to computer #2, I wanted to run other diagnostics but I could not get a response from the computer (power light was on but not responding) so I tried to reboot. The power light comes on, I hear the fans, and sometimes the hard drive light lights up on front but that's it. I've tried pressing the F8 key while rebooting but still nothing other than light comes on and hear fans.

My question then is the problem on computer #2 a result of viruses or do I have something else going on here.

I'm posting this question here in case the issues are related. I will start another thread if necessary.

Thanks for any insight.

Let's first try to repair first PC.

Please download zoek.zip or zoek.rar by smeenk (
Zoek_icon.png
) from here or here and save it to your Desktop.
Unpack the archive...
  • Close any open browsers
  • Temporarily disable your AntiVirus program. (If necessary)
    If you are unsure how to do this please read this or this Instruction.
  • Double click on zoek.exe to run the tool .
    Please wait while the tool does not start...
  • Copy the text present inside the code box below and paste it into the large window in the zoek tool:
    NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to the operating system

    Code:
    createsrpoint;
    gpt.ini;z
    C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy;v
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\GroupPolicy;v
    Maximizer;a
    Maximizer;z
    StandardSearch;
    emptyfolderscheck;
    installer-list;
    installedprogs;
    uninstall-list;
  • Click on
    Run%20Script%20by%20zoek.png
    button.
    Please wait until a logreport will open (this can be after reboot)
  • Save notepad to your Desktop and attach here zoek-results.log
    Note: It will also create a log in the C:\ directory named "zoek-results.log"

OK regarding computer #2.

Couple of quick questions about your instructions:
I cannot download anything onto the computer, so I'm using a laptop and usb to get the files over to the non working computer. I assume this is OK?
If I close my browser, how can I copy the text into the code box as you mention? Or do you mean I should re-type it? I have retyped to get things moving along if this is wrong, please let me know.

Thanks!

Let's try this way :)

> Re-run zoek with the script below and attach here fresh zoek log results.
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to the operating system

Code:
C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine;fs
C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\User;fs
C:\\Program Files\\PC Speed Maximizer;fs
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3113761703-323465755-2053508378-1000\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers];r
"C:\\Program Files\\PC Speed Maximizer\\PCSpeedMaximizer.exe"=-;r
autoclean;
emptyfolderscheck;delete
emptyalltemp;
emptyclsid;
ipconfig /flushdns;b
netsh winsock reset;b

Try to boot windows normally after the fix.

I just re-ran zoek and the computer rebooted right after it finished. I thought I could attach the new log results after it rebooted but when I look at the file it has the results from yesterday (4/10). Do I need to re-run zoek to get the new results to you?

The computer looks like it is running right - well so far anyway. I'll keep you posted if things change.

Let me know if I need to re-run zoek to get the results to you.

Good news! It's been nearly 2 hours and the computer is working like normal :)

I just rebooted to make sure everything works well and now I see the new zoek results from today (4/11).

Should I open another thread for computer #2 issues as mentioned above?

I have a couple of questions for you ....

Was PC Speed Maximizer the cause of all the problems I had on this computer?
and,
I downloaded different programs to get rid of the viruses and programs to get the reports to you. So, what can I delete and what can I leave on the computer?

And, thank you, thank you, thank you TwinHeadedEagle for getting things straightend out for me. ;) Your help is much appreciated.

I'll start a new thread on computer #2

Ok, this PC is done. Yes, PC Speed Maximizer was the cause of problem, I deleted its leftover.

The following will implement some post-cleanup procedures:

=> Please download DelFix by Xplode to your Desktop.

Run the tool and check the following boxes below;
checkmark.png
Remove disinfection tools
checkmark.png
Create registry backup
checkmark.png
Purge System Restore

Click Run button and wait a few seconds for the programme completes his work.
At this point all the tools we used here should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:\DelFix.txt)

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.

Ok, that sounds good.

Again, thank you for helping me out. You're a lifesaver.

PS What kind of beer do you drink?

Looks like you've got good taste in beer :) We get Heineken here in Texas (USA), but haven't heard of Tuborg. I'll have to look for it next time I'm in the liquor store.

Thanks again for your help - you've got some beer money coming your way .... cheers ;)
