It seems like you're having trouble installing Bitdefender Free. It could be due to compatibility issues or a problem with your download source. Try downloading it directly from the official Bitdefender website. If the problem persists, contact Bitdefender support for further assistance.

Its better to use Bitdefender uninstall tool ( total) before you install another version of BD.
But lately i had problems with BD free that updates sometimes happen after 9 hours and not every 1 or 2 hours, they say ask the support team if they can find issues about updates with a huge interval.
I send them a mail with screenshot.

I have managed to install it just fine, but it demands DNS to connect (UDP via port 53), plus it uses like 15 processes.
I will pass, the uninstall is already taking 10+ mins. This really brings my trust in Bitdefender (Avira) way down. (n)

Won't be surprised if Avastified Norton has less impact

Back to the bad Panda for you. ;) So light, it's like running no AV at all.
How much ram does it usually take for it's signatures and does it work on access, execution?
I wonder if some avs couldn't just be set to on execution, on access to get similar performance for example doing so to eset

I even tried downloading free from Bitdefender and also Major Geeks.

I then installed it on clean image, at this point I'm getting the feeling they are not installing the FREE version.

Nope it's TS (seems they are ignoring your desire to install the FREE version and opting to give you a 30 day trial of TS, in hopes you will buy, and then if you don't, reverting it to the FREE version)....

Sorry that is NOT what I want. arrrg, hate that.

If you want to play with security software, then why do you not create virtual machines to download, install, and play with them like @simmerskool does?
i do have VM, where i have tested MEYE,Ahnlab etc. all pretty new or suspicious new programs. but somehow old trusted goodies are getting guite buggy somehow now.

Lastly all the updating software apps like Patch my PC, used to have the free version and they did a silent install. NO MORE.

Why.

Because Bitdefender understood, people were more than willing to stay with the free product, so they switched it up.

Install TS, and just maybe you will say "Ahh what the hell, I'll just keep Bitdefender TS"....

Smart business move, but I still don't like it, it removes my ability to choose, what I install on my PC.

That's what I like about endpoint software
If I want just an ips and firewall of Symantec I could download only these and if I want more or less signatures in ram I can choose too as well as having full privacy if I want

Now my only, and last recourse is to find an off-line full download of the FREE version.

The only one Bitdefender has on their webpage, (yes you guessed correctly) is the full off-line version of TS
