Hello, my fellow members/friends!
Believe it, or not.., I oft times still feel like a newbie; and that feeling is good. With that in mind, please do not hesitate to infuse your own wisdom to my own "..so, together we can rule the galaxy!!" :confused:er, ;)what I really mean to say is that I am very grateful to MT, each of this community's members, & the Super staff, without whom this humble computer system would not be working better than it has ever worked before thanks to positive reinforcement, knowledge, and the very special people here.:D
One reason I'd put off upgrading to Windows 10 (for so very long a time) was my intention to first save a system image..
That is, once we'd secured an external drive.
Well, this is still waiting to happen.o_O So, instead, I have taken the plunge into the Windows 10 swimming pool, and the water's fine!:) I have set aside a few treasured photos. Letting most everything go was very freeing, and it's particularly bearable when most, if not all software is replaceable. I recommend executing this pro-active behavior because it may prove to be good for your system's well being, and it is also good for one's technologically apt Spirit too!

PS I'll share a little something extra with all of you.;) Seeing how very happy I am now with Windows 10, my wife is actually (and seriously) talking about upgrading her Windows 7 SP 1 to  Windows 10 which is something tantamount to being visited by extraterrestrials, or (perhaps) finding a live dinosaur walking around in the middle of Los Angeles during rush hour traffic!:D

Update - It's done. Mrs. Cats is officially using Windows 10, and it's functioning even :eek:better than her Windows 7 SP 1! In all fairness, she left behind a lot of her Sony Vaio's bloatware, programs & apps neither used nor missed. I've only to track down a driver so we can de-activate her touch pad by using the "F"-unction keys. Other than that, "All's clear, and it's smoother sailing" upon the Windows Seas!:D

Thank you all for your comments!:) It 'did' seem a bit strange (later) even to myself that I would include both firewalls. Since I had not disabled Windows Firewall, and nothing seemed amiss, I suppose I'd just ...forgotten all about it!:p Now, under XP's UAC I 'did' mark (2) as I was not certain (..& I'm still not). I am smiling:D even now because, as Umbra Polaris mentioned, privatefirewall did, in fact, disable the other. Yet, while the Security Center window indicates firewall is 'ON', Windows Firewall reads: Off o_O(not recommended);)

Moose, thank you for the list of (new for me) software. I shall gradually dive in 1-at-a-time.;):p

I should change my name to Cats-5_Owners-5 :p Nice setup btw :)
*Laughing*:D Thanks! You are,without a doubt, the first & only Jaffa_Whacka I've met!!:)

Privatefirewall doesn't replace your Windows Firewall??
Privatefirewall had been disabled by Windows Firewall automatically. ..but I hadn't known, and wasn't clear on this until Umbra Polaris pointed out this had happened!:) Now, if only XP could start up without taking forever... ;):D

Hey!! Howz been ur experience with Linux. Heard great from some of my friends though have not tried myself.
There are many many Linux Distros (Distributions) available. I chose lubuntu because it was mentioned by BorraMurdar how older hardware such as my Pentium 4 1.8 GHz, 1 GB RAM should be able to handle it nicely. Once I burned the ISO lubuntu 13.10 (it's now 14.04) I was able to try it out before choosing to install. I didn't wait because compared to XP, lubuntu was a new & reborn computer! Later, I noticed some minor buggy-ness with Firefox images, specifically the smileys here. Downloading Google Chrome solved this, and browsing is far quicker than XP had been in ages. A nice intro is to view some youtube videos just to see. Here's one you might like.:)

And finally...the thread is out! :D
Congrats on your new config Cats! looks pretty good to me, thanks for share
me like! me like! :p
Rahadian, I'm so glad you 'like', my friend!!:):) This re-config was fun & fast to revise (to my surprise) which made me wonder upon how we humans succumb to a laziness which is only difficult when not agreeing to use the imaginary paper here that we insist on avoiding to write upon.o_O:p:D ;) ..finally!
