Comodo agrees to pay AV-Comparatives.org $50,000 for 3rd party auditors to validate AV-Comparatives.org tests.

None of the AV-Comparatives.org tests are validated by a credible, independent 3rd party. It is in the end user interest to have the tests validated. There are many respectable independent and qualified organisations who can audit and validate AV-Comparatives testing methodologies and financial transactions.

This offer of payment is a goodwill gesture to AV-Comparatives.org so that they can prove to end users their testing methodologies and their financial relationships with Anti virus vendors. Its a win-win for everyone!

50 000 is not little, at least in my eyes. I think it would have been better for COMODO to invest that amount money in improving CIS, improve CTM and other application that are essential; we have seen in many tests that CIS is very good and provide the user solid protection and even better when the user understand and knows how to tweak and so on. CTM is innovative and few programs are like it. That's where the the investment should go on.

Yes hahaha but we all like it, something that take us out of the flat horizon of the security business.

Amazing that AV-Comparatives have yet to respond.

I don't see it as drama. With people putting so much blind trust into tests like this, wouldn't it be good to actually find out that such trust is warranted?

I have no reason to doubt them, but if AV-C has nothing to hide, why wouldn't they go for this? Turning it down would tend to cast a shadow on their organization.

I'm sure that there was money exchanged behind closed doors.
In order to become a successful business, you must make dirty deals and try your best to not disclose them to the public.

Of coarse some businesses (Microsoft, Google, Symantec, Apple) have trouble keeping their dirty deals quite. I'm not surprised that Comodo and AV-Comparatives might be swimming in the dirty river together.

Thanks.:D

Littlebits, how on earth did you come to this conclusion?

Of course, you may decide it is just another dirty trick (except, as far as I am concerned, none has happened yet) but AV-Comparatives is registered as a non-profit organisation.

This hole thing looks more and more like a publicity stunt.Never trust any testing company , if you really care about security join a forum and start doing your own test in virtual machine!

2000 to 8000 dollars just to test products against malwares that you collect freely on internet...come on... :dodgy:

It is not because im "known" as a good cop that i cant do dirty things with some mafia guys ^^

I think that youtube testers are the best. people should see 3-5 different reviews of the product and make their own opinion about. CIS, for instance, has done great in many review and that shows that's a solid product.

I see this as a waste of money that could be better invested.
