Alright, so I uninstalled the first beta and didn't restart and then installed the new beta. Mistake. Messed up my installation a ton.

Uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, restarted, working perfectly. It's fixed my update issues and it's running very well.

I was really disappointed at first thinking they had by default set these things into this new installer

Yes, I think these definitely need to be more prominent in the installer, and they need to make more of a point to let the user know what choosing this setting will do.
