As mentioned by Trickster, try uBlock Origin.

And try Avast Hardened Mode - Set it to "Aggressive" Mode & see how you like it (Aggressive Mode is better than Moderate Mode, both security & usability wise).

Regards Avast, I would suggest only Hardened Mode set to Aggressive Mode & check PUP is enabled.
If you are an average/novice user, no need increasing/enabling other protection mechanism of Avast.
If you know to handle security/security software, can try increasing/enabling other protection mechanism of Avast.

Consider setting Avast to Hardened > Aggressive to get the max protection.
Consider replacing ABD + with uBlock Origin
I would consider some type of system back up solution.

Likely consider to have backup software for practicality and less hassle to restore.
