Any plans to upgrade Windows or switch to another OS, after Microsoft ends Windows XP SP3 support?

The cheapest option may be to switch to a Linux distro (costs nothing), although you'd need to check for any compatibility issues - should be minor though.

You'll still be able to run Windows applications under Wine. http://www.winehq.org

Wine cannot run every windows application, it has limitations and incompatibilities especially with complicated programs.
