I have two questions actually.

  1. I couldn't find a Kaspersky Premium physical copy in my country, and most retailers only have the standard version. It looks like the main things I'm missing out on are unlimited VPN, a password manager and identity protection, and remote access detection. I absolutely don't care about any of that except for remote access detection. Is this a big deal? Will I be vulnerable against remote access trojans if I only have the standard version?

  1. I was a Kaspersky premium user, and the subscription has expired, and now I seem to have a harder time finding a good deal to renew my Kaspersky subscription. I paid 17 dollars to buy a Kaspersky premium licence for my region 1 year ago, and now Kaspersky demands 58 dollars to renew my subscription plan for 1 device 1 year. In my opinion this is unfair because I'm not European, and most other non-European countries only have to pay half of that for 1 device for 1 year. Is this a new Kaspersky marketing strategy to charge more for global users?
Much appreciated for any assistance.

Remote Access Detection, does not worth to pay for it...

Also it gives a false sense of security, since this module only knows “a short” list of RAT tools, for example, I have Pro license of AnyViewer, and KPremium does not detect it.

Where did You buy that license? In official K. site? Maybe that was a temporal deal...

You better find a cheap K. Standard elsewhere...

That is a very expensive price even for official K. site 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Official K. site. I will get a Kaspersky Standard physical copy from a local retailer instead (I only have to pay quarter of the price this way). Thanks for explaining the difference between K versions.

I love Kaspersky products, but I also think it’s not worth buying the Premium version. The Plus version might be okay, but the Standard version is more than enough. I have all three licenses, and I regret buying the Premium version. I won’t do that again.

I find renewal prices for any AV are expensive, the last Kaspersky licenses I bought were online & when they expire I buy another online I don't renew, I find Standard to be perfect for my needs too,
Not so long ago, just a few years back, things were different. If you bought a brand-new license, renewing it was cheaper. They rewarded your loyalty. Now, it’s not worth renewing at all, because you end up much worse off than if you’d just bought a brand-new license. It’s a disaster.

My experience with Kaspersky was different. I bought a Kaspersky Standard license through a third-party website, and it expired on April 2. They offered to let me renew with them at a 60% discount, but I declined. The price is good, but it’s still more expensive than where I originally bought it—though the price difference is minimal. I didn’t renew with Kaspersky because I already had a Kaspersky Standard + KPM license that I bought about two months later. Now my current K license doesn’t expire until July of this year. I think it depends on where you bought the license and also the region you’re in. Even in the last two days before my K. Standard subscription expired, they added it to the cart and gave me an extra 5% discount. Even now that it’s expired, Kaspersky is still offering me a 60% discount to renew my subscription. If it were the only K license I had, I’d probably renew it with them without any problem because of the offer. ;)

I like the Plus version mainly for its Hard Drive Health Monitor feature. I received early warning e-mails of failing hard drives on both my own and remote computers because of that. Quite a helpful feature, so I pay for that.

Other than that I would say Standard is more than enough.

The Plus version is fine, that’s okay. But the Premium version doesn’t offer any extras that make it worth subscribing to. What I’m missing is the paid antivirus. I’m sorry they scrapped that. I would have considered it a smarter solution to offer the antivirus as part of the Standard and Plus versions. The basic paid antivirus would be more than enough for me.

  • "I paid 17 dollars to buy a Kaspersky premium licence for my region 1 year ago, and now Kaspersky demands 58 dollars to renew my subscription plan for 1 device 1 year" any idea why this happened harlan4096?
Renewals are almost always more expensive that the first year license. What I do with Kaspersky is disable auto-renewal and then buy a new license when it expires, then bound it to My Kaspersky account and done. Cheaper, still original, directly from vendor license.

fwiw many / most AV offer "reduced price" the first year then double or triple it next time around unless (as harlan4096 & others mentioned) you find a better deal new license path.
