I actually have Kaspersky Internet Security as my security suite, which has an integrated firewall.

Should i disable the antivirus firewall and enable Comodo Firewall? (it's not Comodo IS, just free firewall).

Or should i use KIS firewall alone?

For gods sake (only joking) don't disable Kaspersky's firewall. Comodo is a crap product, their forum is laced with failed software, they no longer even listen to the forum mods. Stick with Kaspersky.

comodo is the best firewall out there.. even tho you may find some problems when using the program, the best you can do is to test by yourselft but my own experience is that comodo may be an excellent choice... however please avoid using two firewall at the same time even if you disable one of them it doesnt mean that is really off, it just mean that you disable filtering but the driver is still active, if you have 2 firewall your traffic will have to pass through two drivers and may lead into a slow down or something else...

Since Comodo is a HIPS firewall, can you handle the massive amount of alerts that a HIPS firewall create?

If you can't, just go with Kaspersky's firewall.

Kaspersky Integrated Firewall is a worth to try and matter of configuration to achieve the results and if you will based on result taken by matousec.com before, it seems pretty good.

Firewall version type of Kaspersky and Comodo are bit different since one enhanced with HIPS alongside of possible sandbox concept.

Thanks for your answers! To clear it a little, I'm not looking for something actually simple that won't give me much alerts, I'm actually looking for maximum security. Thanks!!

Kaspersky offers the best, yes Comodo (so they say) is good, but I look not only at the firewall the company in general. They have messed up big time with Privdog and their forum is full of failed products i.e., Comodo time machine, Cleaning Essentials and the list goes on. I think about 20. My friend (when I was on the forum) he is a Mod from Australia and the staff are no longer active, Melih just writes the same crap year after year. Stick with Kaspersky.

Morvo- To clear things up a little:

1). Kaspersky relies on a great extent on its malware definitions, which are excellent.
2). The Kaspersky Firewall relies on detecting connections to known malicious sites which are then blocked.
3). You will feel Kaspersky on your system!
4). Kaspersky isn't all that good at some Adware- case in point can be found here:

http://malwaretips.com/threads/2015-03-22-trojan-startpage.43882/#post-365401

This file will change Policy settings in Windows as well as placing Internet Option settings to a created Administration function. A real pain to get rid of, and one which Kaspersky blindly ignores.

5). Comodo Firewall relies on its Sandbox to stop malware, which is excellent.
6). Comodo Firewall can be so configured to stop all Unknowns and Untrusted for connecting out.
7). It is light as a feather on the system.
8). Comodo Firewall stops things like the Adware above cold.

Further, popups are not a concern if CF is properly configured (note that the HIPS is not needed). You can look here (shameless plug follows) for setup parameters:

Hello Morvotron,

Combining Kaspersky and Comodo will likely consume a lot of resources; I would pick one or the other.

If you have 64 bit system, then Comodo Internet Security has an edge over Kaspersky. If you have 32 bit system, then both are equivalent.

To fully protect a 64 bit system using Kaspersky one should enable Trusted Application Mode (TAM).

Whether one uses Comodo or Kaspersky, it is a good idea to create a default-deny protection using appropriate settings.

@cruelsister has created a video on how to accomplish this for Comodo. You can find that video here on MT.

Comodo, if anything, is actively tested for bugs and vulnerabilities. Unfortunately, the Comodo forum has essentially become a venue only to report bugs and other problems discovered primarily during beta testing... in other words, it really is not a support forum.

I have a quick-guide on how to enable maximum settings for Kaspersky. It can be found in the MT Kaspersky subforum.

Both Comodo and Kaspersky use HIPS. They are slightly different in how the HIPS module works.

You can achieve a very high level of security with either Comodo or Kaspersky.

I disagree. The University I did my BSc at used Kaspersky Enterprise which my friend in the IT dept. stated, along with Sophos was the best. It does not win the award through being crap. Comodo is a failed product and many people have left, especially after version 6. The example(s) above are, and is one event. All AV's fail in ‘some’ area's, nothing is perfect. Comodo is one of them who has failed completely, Melih who comes up with these revolutionary ideas, from DACS, his idea about legacy antiviruses, and as one Forum users puts it “welcome to Comodo Forum…the place where Comodo devs answer when they want to… and my friend the Forum Mod captinsticks “I have PMed two staff members asking about this. If/when I get a reply I will post it here” but nothing heard for months. Comodo now even gets a mention on the US Governments website, due to Privdog which Melih stated on affected a 'few users'. Even ThreatPost.com states Privdog is a bigger threat than Superfish. I thought he specialised in digital certificates’?

What are you doing?

Use Kaspersky Internet Security OR Comodo Internet Security. Do not disable core components, or combine.

If you want to use both, then I suggest using downgraded (lower) versions, for example, Kasperky Antivirus and Comodo Firewall. However, I cannot comment on compatibility between them. Also check vendors site for more info.

The man has to judge for himself which one is going to work best for him.

It doesn't matter what I think is best...

all that matters is what he sees on his specific system.

Yes, but Kaspersky will NOT work with Comodo, it's on their web page and clearly states it must be removed. If they wish to not listen to Kaspersky staff, then I am not even going to comment, common sense should prevail.

Visit their forum, the list is endless - Comodo Time Machine, LoginPro, Comodo Cleaning Essentials, Comodo System Utilities etc., etc., I don't need to share an example, the 300 million Kaspersky users I think says it all. When Comodo has achieved that, then we shall see, but it will never happen.

Despite all the other Comodo softs being discontinued, Comodo Internet Security remains solid, respectable.

Used properly with correct settings it does provide a high level of security.

Just sayin' ...
