Hi,

I am having the same problem with many other people. dllhost.exe surrogate keeps appearing in my task manager, occupying a huge amount of memory and causing my computer to crash. Please help!

I scanned with Farbar Recovery and attached the log files.

Thank you so much in advance!

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. I attached the files requested here. Malwarebytes did not find any malwares. Farbar Recovery keep notifying me that the file Windows Defender is corrupted and unreadable. Is that caused by the virus too?
I don't see many dllhost file running at the same time, just one, but it keeps increasing in size until my computer crashes. I choose end process then it resumes to normal again but it will appear again from time to time. I have to keep ending processes. Look forward to your reply soon.

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Windef does not work because you have Kaspersy. Windefender is blocked.

Hi,

I ran the fix and my computer reboot. After the reboot, I still see the dllhost.exe increasing in size rapidly in the Windows Task Manager. I attached the fixlog. It does not seem to work though.

I saw a reply notification but when I came in here I did not see the post. Do I need to run Malwarebytes again and send you the log?

dllhost.exe is a legitimate file.

How's your computer behaving now?

They will slowly increase. I am looking right now at 800,000k, CPU usage 80% and it is still increasing. I saw it over 1,000,000 once. Then my computer will crash.

But in the description it says COM Surrogate. And now it takes over 1000000k memory. Is that normal? I did not see that happening before two days ago when my machine was infected.

Scan with ComboFix

This is a very powerful tool that should be used only if advised by Malware Analyst.

    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
  • Accept the disclaimer and agree if prompted to install Recovery Console.
  • Do not take any actions while ComboFix goes through your System - it may cause it to stall!
  • This scan may take some time!
  • When finished - it will display a logfile (located also on your main drive, usually C:\ComboFix.txt).

Include that log in your next reply.

I attached the log file. The dllhost surrogate is still there from time to time, crashing my computer. Seem like my machine is really heavily infected. I am freaking out. Can I ever clean that thing out? Please check for me.

Thank you

I attached the screenshot for you to see. dllhost surrogate keeps consuming more and more. Last time I saw it reached 2,000,000K then my laptop crashed. I selected end process and it reappeared after a while.

Hi,

Now the file dllhost is acting ok, but explorer.exe is the one consuming memory like crazy now.
