New: Emsisoft Emergency Kit 10 – The fastest portable dual-engine malware cleaner!
In Emsisoft News by Emsi on June 17, 2015

We’re proud to announce the release of Emsisoft Emergency Kit version 10, the ultimate malware cleaning toolkit. Free of charge, it’s the tool of choice for a second opinion scan

It’s lightning fast in scanning
A typical malware scan of the whole system takes less than one minute and doesn’t leave out important stuff. It’s a full system scan for all sorts of active threats, using two major antivirus/anti-malware scan engines (Emsisoft + Bitdefender).

It’s powerful: cleans both malware and PUPs

Advanced cleaning routines allow you to get back control over your computer within seconds. Is your computer running slow lately? Emsisoft Emergency Kit is specialized in removing potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), like unecessary browser toolbars or annoying adware that are notorious for bloating your system.

It’s protecting your privacy

No internet connection is required for scanning or cleaning, but we recommend performing a one-click online update prior to scanning to ensure you have the latest malware signatures.

It’s 100% portable

Emsisoft Emergency Kit is fully portable, which means no installation is required. The download package just unpacks to a destination folder of your choice from where you can run it right away. It works well in combination with any other antivirus program. Once you’re finished, just delete it (or keep it for later scans). Either way, it’s zero risk to run.

It’s FREE to use

Run as many scans as you want, totally for free for private use. It’s the perfect second opinion scanner, if you have doubts that your main antivirus missed to detect some threat.

It's great that it's fast but can anyone verify if it can pick up as much or more than the older version?

In my experience EEK seems to be pretty heavy and slow in the 9xxxx versions, is this new version really significantly faster?

Last time I used EEK was in 2012. Maybe version 10 is worth taking a peek.

FYI: Been using Emsisoft products since the Asquared days

Just did a scan with it, seems like it doesn't scan the full computer anymore, it looks like a smart scan is the max that it can go now. I've got a few files that EEk used to pick up as a crack file but now it doesn't and it seems like it doesn't even scan up to that area anymore. Speed definitely improved if you compare the new scan and the full scan of the past.

what do you mean by pick up much more? in general EEK uses the same engines for AV as EAM or EIS

You can always do a full scan by going to "custom scan" section where you can choose many parameters as locations, PUP detection, scan within archives etc... in fact "malware scan" and "quick scans" are intended to quickly detect active malware on your pc.

Quick scan: only focus in places where malware usually gets into, the location list will regularly be updated. Most of the times this type of scan is enough to detect most malware and PUP, it looks for rootkits, registry, memory and traces...

Malware scan: the same as quick scan, but it performs a scan of your PC including all drives as well

As for crack software, as they are PUP please make sure to enable this feature the first time the program shows up...
