Fake Adobe and Java automatic downloads

I read this topic and I just had to reply because I believe I have the same thing.

About once a week I notice I get redirected to another page, like the fake adobe update. It happened again tonight as I was clicking on a Google search result. (I clicked off it real quick so I missed what page it was exactly, I guess I need to start a log and take a screen shot every time it happens so I can keep track of the different pages). Another example is last week I was clicking on a news story from the Drudgereport and I knew damn well I didn't miss click, and it sent me to some bullshit video player download. I clicked the back arrow to Drudgereport, clicked the same link and it took me to the correct page the second time.

I should also mention I just finished going through your malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-browser-redirect-virus/ to the letter and nothing was found.

I have also used Trendmicro - found nothing.
My computer was formatted probably less than 4 months ago with a clean install of Windows 8.
I have re-installed Google Chrome two times, didn't help. I use Chrome 99% of the time and that is the program I notice the redirects happening with.

Other things I have tried is flashing the firmware on my router. I have a Linksys WRT54G and I was running the Tomato firmware for years, but these occasions redirects is making me paranoid, so I switched to the DD-WRT firmware last week, I switched the DNS servers to Google's. But I have still gotten 1 redirect FOR SURE since I flashed my router.

This Google Chrome redirect thing is driving my crazy. It happens just enough for you to forget about it then BAM! It happens and it's really starting to annoy me.

The one last tidbit that may help is I believe it happened to me one time when I was using my Ipad?!? So that's what made me think maybe my router was infected. But since it has only happened one time to my ipad it could be me touching the wrong part of the screen or something. But now I'm trying to be super aware of when it happens to hopefully figure out the issue.

Any tips on what I can do to help find the culprit? Maybe start using only Firefox? or IE? Is there some network logging program I can use that can catch the redirects as they happen? Maybe Wireshark?
