[QUOTE="grandpayoda, post: 292063, member: 30118"] That's a good question, but I suspect that something that was cleaned up in the "fix" processes caused the damage or possibly something I saw when attempting the fixes caused the fixes to not apply 100% normally. As I recall, when attempting to run FRST, I had to boot to Safe Mode to get it to run and there were some "error" messages/boxes (3 or 4) about not being able to access something, but after clicking through them, FRST seemed to run successfully. I also seem to remember that early on after the FRST fix was applied, when booting normally, my HPMediaSmart Server connector software errored and told me I needed to reinstall it - though I did not do that as I was trying to follow your explicit instructions not to run or install anything outside of your instructions. What's next? Note: I do believe I should be able to restore my system from my HPMediaSmart server to a point prior to the virus showing up (e.g. early Oct. 29), but i don't want to do that until you decide you can no longer help me.
