Operating System: Windows 7
Are you using a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system?:
64-bit (x64)
Infection date and initial symptoms:
About a month ago from now, a pop would appear telling me the computer was infected (Other adware was installed at the time and I removed them)
Current issues and symptoms:
A security alert pops up telling me I have a potential threat. "Malware:Win32/Caphaw" and when you attempt to remove it, the pop up says it could not remove it and to call this 1800 number. The pop up will constantly happen every couple minutes it is closed.
Steps taken in order to remove the infection:
Removed adware and other malicious software installed at the time (repo uninstaller). Ran a virus scan with avast, malware bytes, hitman and other programs recommended by this site to remove malware. They found adware and malware located on the computer but it still hasn't removed this pop up.
What scan logs have you uploaded to this post?:
"After the steps taken I have just all together stopped really using the computer, coming back to it now (a month later) the pop up is still here and upon googling it again (no luck a month ago) it seemed another user on the forum also the same problem and it was solved (Sept 1st). I couldn't copy his steps because it was directly targeted for him. Thank you in advance on the help."
Thx for your help!
