Mozilla extends support for Firefox ESR on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.
Firefox support for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 | Firefox Help
Firefox version 115 is the last supported Firefox version for users of Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. If you have been using Firefox on these versions of Windows, you will be moved to the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) channel by an application update.
What is changing?
  • Firefox 115 is now the last version supported on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.
  • Updates will be delivered through the ESR channel until the end of August 2026. It was previously announced that support would end in February 2026, but in order to ensure our users can continue to browse the web, we will extend support for Firefox for these operating systems for another six months and then re-evaluate.
  • After that, if support is not extended, users should upgrade their operating system to continue receiving Firefox security and feature updates.
If you want to install Firefox on Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 and you visit the Firefox download page, your Windows version will be detected, and you will be prompted to download the latest Firefox 115 ESR version for your 32-bit or 64-bit Windows system.

Firefox 149.0 will be released officially tomorrow...
Mozilla has published today the final builds of the Firefox 149 open-source web browser ahead of its official unveiling on March 24th, 2026, so it’s time to take a look at the new features and improvements.

Firefox 149 introduces the long-anticipated native Split View feature, allowing users to view two web pages side-by-side in one tab. The Split View feature can be enabled by right-clicking on a tab, and you can also add a split view to a new group.

This release also adds support for downloading images directly from PDF files via the context menu, increases the robustness of HTTP/3 upload performance for unstable network conditions, and better integrates with your Linux desktop by defaulting to the XDG portal file picker.

On top of that, Firefox 149 brings support for adding a Share button to the toolbar via the Customize Toolbar right-click tab context menu option to make it easier to share the current tab using the macOS or Windows system sharing options.

It also enables the WebRender layer compositor by default on Windows to reduce power usage during full-screen video playback and improve WebGL/WebGPU performance, enables address autofill for users in Australia, India, Italy, Poland, and Austria, and makes PDF loading faster.

There are also a bunch of new security features in Firefox 149, namely the ability to automatically block notifications and permanently revoke permissions for any website flagged as malicious by SafeBrowsing, and strengthened requirements for JavaScript files that can be loaded in the parent process.

Among other noteworthy changes, Firefox 149 updates the Firefox error pages with a fresh new look with updated visuals, and unifies the privacy and security panels from the address bar into a single TrustPanel to check the Privacy and Security settings of the current page.

Firefox 150.0 official release tomorrow. Release notes aren't published yet

Here are some information:
PDF Editor: You can now use built-in PDF editor to reorder, copy, paste, delete, and export pages in a PDF.

Split View just got better: You can now right-click any link and choose Open Link in Split View to open it alongside your current tab. You can also search open tabs when creating a split view and quickly reverse tab positions using the new Reverse Tabs option in the tab context menu.

Local network access restrictions are now being extended to all users. Firefox will require websites to request your permission before connecting to devices on your local network or to apps and services on your device. Previously limited to users with *Enhanced Tracking Protection* set to *Strict*, this protection is now rolling out gradually to all users. You can find more details about this on our support page

Here are some information:

Claude Mythos Found 271 Zero-Days in Firefox 150. This Is What the New World Looks Like.

If AI can improve the DOMContentLoaded metric, and thus the Speedometer 3.1 test, even just to bring it closer to Chrome’s performance, I might consider making Firefox my primary browser.
It’s a shame that Mozilla’s engineers don’t view this as a top priority.

I'll try, but I have a question. My NVIDIA driver is version 546.30, and it was updated by Windows updates. Should I update it manually to the most recent version, or will it not make a difference?

There’s no single answer because the issue could be caused by a variety of factors, especially if it’s limited to the Firefox browser (you should check that as well).
What is the date of your driver?
Updating outdated drivers is generally a good idea, but it might not solve the problem.

So first, try disabling hardware acceleration and see if that helps.

According to "Device Manager" Driver Date: November 30, 2023.

I'll give Microsoft Edge a try as well, I rarely use it, so I forget.

Hi,
Have you taken the test?
I've fixed my glitch issues.
Hi,

I tried using Microsoft Edge and found no problems, so I followed your advice and turned off GPU acceleration in Firefox, and now everything is operating as it should.

I might think about upgrading the NVIDIA driver as well, but since I don't play games, I don't need the newest features. Additionally, installing the driver from the NVIDIA website installs about five components on the computer, whereas Windows updates only installs the GPU driver.

Has upgrading your driver resolved the problem on your end?

Yes, I updated using Adrenaline, Lenovo Vantage and Windows Update couldn't find any newer drivers.

Then, as I mentioned in my security settings, I disabled one service and set another to “manual” in the Adrenaline software, which I configured to run as “quietly” as possible.

Now I’ve re-enabled hardware acceleration and no longer have any issues.

Even if you don’t update the drivers when a new version of Firefox is released, try re-enabling hardware acceleration.
Maybe there was a bug in FF that’s since been fixed, possibly limited to your specific hardware.

Firefox 150.0.1 coming soon...
  • Fixed an issue where Facebook and other websites might not load properly for users with Bitdefender security software installed.
  • Fixed an issue where denying a geolocation permission prompt could cause Firefox to show the system permission dialog again on a second attempt.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented tabs from being added to some older saved tab groups.
  • Fixed a layout issue where some drop-down menus expanded to display all list items at once.
  • Fixed an issue where borders and outlines on some page elements disappeared when pinch zooming or smart zooming on macOS and Windows.
  • Various security fixes.

I'm not a gamer & my NVIDIA (GT-1030) card is pretty basic but runs OK - According in Device Info;

Driver date:14/08/2024
Version: 32.0.15.6094

Most updates seemingly apply to games so I tend now to leave graphics drivers as they are unless I have problems which I don't

I upgraded Firefox to version 150.0.1 and re-enabled hardware acceleration, and now everything is working perfectly.
