Get system image back after format

Hi,
I have windows 7 on my drive c and system image on drive d.
C and d are both on same hard disc
I want to format disk c and then restore system image which i created on d.
Is it possible.?
I have tried it with windows in built backup but after formating drive c its impossible.

Do any other software like acronis paragon can do this.

Acronis does, it is what i do when my Ext.HDD is out of reach.

you can do it via Acronis Boot CD or by installing it after a fresh temporary Windows install.

Are you sure umbra Paragon and Easus work even after i format C:

by using boot Cd, yes, at least last time i used them.

but they will restore only their own backups.

my best solution was to create a recovery Cd with acronis and using it to backup/restore
