Hello,

Does anybody know a good product for a MacBook Air that will remove malware, pop-ups and unwanted webpages randomly popping up on my machine?

Thank you!

Are you running Windows on it? Norton is a good AV for it.

Actually no Marg, I'm not running Windows, it's a one year old Mac laptop.

You sure got an infection on that Mac it sounds like? I will check out some free AV's to see what will run on it. Norton free... Kaspersky & Comodo.

Is it malware or a "PUP" Potentially Unwanted Program?

If it is the latter, just remove the PUP, and reset your settings in the browser..

Welcome. :D

I primarily use Windows, so my knowledge for the Mac OS is fairly limited. However, I performed a quick Google search for "antivirus for mac", these are some results. I have posted links to the free versions, as I don't believe a paid solution provides any better solutions (apart from better user support). Choose only ONE antivirus solution.

Avast! Free Antivirus for Mac

AVG Free Antivirus for Mac

Avira Free Antivirus for Mac

Sophos Free Antivirus for Mac

Remember to keep your Mac OS updated and secure, including updating all your installed applications.

Mac OS has some built-in security, such as Firewall and GateKeeper.

Hope this helps, let us know what you decide. @jetta1223 What is your primary web browser?

You can post your Security Configuration here, even for Mac users. :D

I would only get antivirus made only for mac/vendors focused on mac antivirus.
I think Sophos, Intego VirusBarrier, and more are the only ones (very few).
ESET Cybersecurity Pro might be okay, too.

Intego VirusBarrier isn't free, but it is better dedicated to Mac OS. See their blog, http://www.intego.com/mac-security-blog/

I know someone who's been using their security software for a few years, and even though I have recommended free alternates, they haven't switched.

If you're transferring between Windows and Mac often, then it may be a good idea to get an AV that detects Windows malware too. Some malware are cross-platform, Java-based for example.
