I received a notice in Gmail of my AI Plus going from $7.99 a month to 4.99 a month. It was nice to see a decrease notice, and not an increase.

We wanted to let you know about changes to your Google AI Plus plan. These updates include price savings and increased storage, as well as changes to the usage limits included with your plan.

"What’s changing starting today, Jun 8, 2026:

Decrease in price: The standard monthly price of your AI Plus plan will be lowered from $7.99/month to $4.99/month, and annual plans will be lowered from $79.99/year to $49.99/year. You’ll see this new price automatically in the next one to two billing cycles or once your offer period ends (if applicable).

Increase in storage: We’re doubling the amount of cloud storage included with your AI Plus plan from 200 GB to 400 GB. You’ll see this new storage limit appear in your account over the next few days.

Usage limits in the Gemini app: For the Gemini app, we’re introducing compute-based usage limits that factor in the complexity of your prompt, the features you use, and the length of your chat. Your limit refreshes every 5 hours until you reach your weekly limit. As an AI Plus subscriber, you’ll enjoy a 2x higher usage limit than non-subscribers.

AI credits: The product-based usage limit model is also rolling out to other products, starting with Flow and Antigravity. While 200 AI credits will no longer be included as a benefit in your base plan each month, the new usage limit model we are introducing should allow you to maintain the same experience you are used to".

Dunno about you guys, but I absolutely hate that everything is spinning around AI these days. While I do think it can be very useful in some cases, I also think we should limit what it can do. It's only making younger generations dumb and this won't end well.

Yesterday, leading Croatian news portal published an article that as much as 37% of elementary school fourth graders in Croatia couldn't wrote a summary of a text they read in national exam. I blame tech and AI for that.

I'm waiting for the day AI bubble will burst.

you can blame the parents and the teachers for the bad test scores. why blame ai ? is a big leap in evolution. progress pace last years is amazing. in many fields of work. the ai bubble will never burst. the smarter, the more creative the person that use it, the better the results. the fact the people use it wrong, dont understand how to use it, dont understand its value, is only their problem. this is something that will never go away. some will adapt some wont. if you ask me, they dont talk enough about it in mainstream media

Yup, some people are graduating from college now with about a Grade 10 math level
You are just scratching the surface. There is zero need to learn math or coding or networking. Even essay writing is a lost art with A.I supplementing writing skills.

First they said A.I. was cheating and wanted nothing to do with it, then they started courses on it because ti made money, now they embrace it and teach 'safe' A.I use.

But, is it totally AI's fault, using AI? How long has it actually been in use within the school/collage systems? The school system in the US lags behind the world in general, where we try to be more about social acceptance, being politicly (in)correct and other such nonsense (which has been happening for a long time, longer than AI), that I think it also contribute to some of the lack of real education as they head off to collage?
