It looks like Google has started notifying Android users that the long-awaited retirement of Google Assistant on mobile is finally about to begin.

Google app is the most useless app in the existence of all apps. For God sake, just use the web browser for searching the web. It's the first app I disable when setting up new device.

The only thing I miss from it is Gemini and Google Lens, nothing else. I wish there were separate apps for Gemini and Lens instead of just shortcuts to Google app.

Are you talking about something other than this, at least for Gemini, the 2 shortcuts, icons you can enable?

Or use GrapheneOS on a Pixel. GOS includes only 8 apps. Users install and configure what they want. No annoying Google search bar either.

I use Brave Search's AI or Google Gemini via Vanadium.

Are you talking about something other than this, at least for Gemini, the 2 shortcuts, icons you can enable?

It's just a shortcut. In order to use it, you need to have Google app installed and fully functional.

Or use GrapheneOS on a Pixel. GOS includes only 8 apps. Users install and configure what they want. No annoying Google search bar either.

Pixel phones aren't officially available here and repairs are expensive because of it. Beside, Pixel's battery life is too short for me.
