Hi, I'm having this problem of Google redirecting me to Yahoo when I try to search for something. When I open Chrome, my homepage is the same: Google, but once I type something in the search bar and press Enter, it automatically redirects to Yahoo. This happens 95% of the time, only a few times I managed to go through Google search engine. I found out this malware does not affect tabs in incognito mode. Only Chrome has this problem, IE and Firefox is working fine. I suspect that this malware was downloaded along with a game I was trying to download for free online. I have deleted the game file and all other suspicious programs I can find. Chromium was probably downloaded along with it too. I have tried installing Malwarebytes (trial version) to solve it, but after scanning, quarantine and deleting all the threats, the problem still persists. Tried uninstalling unwanted applications, but it's still the same. Removed unwanted extensions from Chrome, removed Yahoo from search engine options, reset Chrome to default settings, uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, but Yahoo still keeps hijacking Google. For the Chromium problem, it was downloaded without my knowledge and opens itself whenever I turn on my laptop. Solved it by watching a Youtube tutorial by: 1. End all Chromium tasks in task manager 2. Locate the file location and deleting the file 3. Empty recycle bin Chromium no longer pops up after I restarted my laptop. However, I realised that whenever I turn on my laptop, a window will open for a split second, then vanishes. I cannot identify what kind of window that is before it disappears. I don't know if I had actually removed Chromium from it roots, and is worried that the problem is still hiding somewhere on my device.
